care for millions.Primary Responsibilities:
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that
demonstrate Optum's commitment to superior customer service,
including quality, care and concern with each and every internal
and external customer
- Maintains current working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes,
required modifiers and encounter data
- Generates claims from CDO system for data entry
- Reviews paper encounter forms to accuracy
- Performs data entry of encounter forms and copayments
- Assists with patient registration and insurance
verification
- Maintains summary encounter data tracker report
- Reviews encounter forms for accuracy and completeness. Makes
necessary corrections
- Prepares payments for data entry according to Payment
Calculation policies and procedures
- Assists with patient billing inquiries
- Acts as liaison between Site Operations and Revenue
Operations
- Applies knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal guidelines in
reviewing claims to ensure appropriate use of modifiers and
CPT/ICD-9 codes
- Corrects claims appearing on Edit Reports
- Serves as a resource to Optum staff on coding and general
billing guidelines
- Uses, protects, and discloses Optum patients' protected health
information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standardsYou'll be

you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of working in a billing or related role
- Ability to demonstrate solid proficiency using MS Suite and
other systems
- Professional working knowledge of CPT & Diagnosis Coding,
Medical Terminology, and basic AnatomyPreferred Qualifications:
- Some college education
- CPC certificate
- 5+ years of medical billing and/or related job experience.
- 1+ years of working in a healthcare setting
- IDX experience
- HMO/managed care experience

The hourly range for California residents is $16.00 to $31.44. Pay
is based on several factors including but not limited to education,
work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary,
