Job Description:
Behavioral Medicine Center: Outpatient Services (Full Time, Day
Shift) -

The Clinical Psychologist provides clinical services including
psychological and neuropsychological assessments and individual,
family, multi-family, couples, and group therapy, based on
patient's needs and established treatment plan. Collaborates with
psychiatrists, primary care and specialty physicians, and other
providers to optimize patient's mental health treatment plan,
including potential need for higher level of care. Provides
education to psychology pre- and post-doctoral trainees, medical
students, psychiatry residents, staff, and the community. Conducts
risk assessments, implements safety planning, and follows through
to provide immediate care and safety for the patient and others.
Performs other duties as needed.
Doctoral Degree in clinical Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from a
regionally accredited institution required, preferably American
Psychologic Association (APA) accredited. Completion of a
pre-doctoral internship with an APA or California Psychological
Association (CPA)-accredited program is required. Minimum two years
of experience (pre- and/or post-doctoral) in a behavioral health
care setting is required. Current California Board of Psychology
(BOP) license in good standing required.
Knowledge of psychological assessment and intervention theory,
empirical literature, and techniques. Able to identify need for
supervision/consultation and utilize input appropriately. Able to
read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with
professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary
to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and
professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in
following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond
courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and
collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in
English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think
critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform
basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work
well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize
workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to
detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for
patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person
and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds
associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read
computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary
to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
