SUMMARY: Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive health care to both well and ill patients and/or family members; promotes wellness, prevention of health problems, and maintenance of current health; intervenes to care for chronic and acute illness.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must be a MD/DO , Board Certified/Eligible.Schedule: Physicians are scheduled to see return patients either 15/30 or 20/40 Schedule, 9 ½ half days, and 1-½ day as admin time for "catch-up" of charting, etc. [Half day assigned by the Medical Director] Standard Schedule (8-12 a.m.; 1-5 p.m.) Monday-Friday. The patient schedule is "open access", i.e. each day your schedule will have protected openings to accommodate same-day patient visits.Electronic Medical Record: Currently GE Centricity.BMG Call: About 1 in 12 weeknights (Mon.-Fri.) Call is taken from home, assisted by Nurse Advice Unit which screens all incoming calls when out-patient offices are closed, and 3 Beaver Urgent Care Centers (open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. 365 days a year). The on-call physician simply triages calls from the Nurse Advice Unit (typically 3-6 per night), but does not go to the Urgent Care or hospital. During weekdays office hours there is Doctor of the Day in-office call rotated among all physicians at that office, to respond to refill requests, SNF calls, urgent lab results, etc. for providers out of the office. Beaver Hospitalists do all admissions 24/7. About 1 in 12 weekends (Saturday & Sunday) you receive calls from the BMG Nurse Advice unit as above. The on-call physician triages calls not screened out by Nurse Advice Unit, but doesn't go to Urgent Care or the hospital.Hospital Call: Beaver Hospitalists do admissions 24/7. You can choose to participate in voluntary hospital call [Compensated] - Saturday and Sunday.Skilled Nursing Facility Admissions: The BMG Hospitalists may discharge patients to nearby SNFs. They provide all necessary documents for the transfer including admitting orders. All primary care physicians are requested to admit to three local SNFs on a rotating basis. The average TOTAL SNF census per physician is only 2-4 patients. [Voluntary]Benefits: Term Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability Insurance, Malpractice Insurance, & Health Care Insurance are fully paid by the group. The Health Care Insurance is an HMO plan utilizing Beaver physicians. For a modest additional cost, a non-Beaver primary care group (which accepts our HMO plan, currently with Blue Cross-Anthem) can be utilized. A PPO plan is available at significant additional cost to the physician. Reimbursement for moving expenses [> 50 miles]In addition to these economic benefits, Beaver is a collegial, stable group, with excellent patient care and physician professional satisfaction as high priorities.PERFORM DEPARTMENT DUTIES IN A TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned.)Review patient records to determine health status.Perform physical exams including health history.Document appropriate information and/or health appraisals given by patients and family members.Assess patient clinical problems and patient health care needs. Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition. Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare and implement comprehensive patient care plan. Co-manages patients of the supervising physician by sharing visits.Assess psychosocial, cognitive and personal assets and limitations of patient and family members; plan care to address these needs.Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. This includes laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic modalities. Follows up on results of all ordered diagnostic testing.Inform patients and family members of planned procedures and treatments.Care for and suture minor lacerations and/or remove sutures.Perform incisions and drainage of superficial abscesses.Perform nail and foot care, including diabetic foot care.Administer direct IV medications.Apply, remove, trim and modify casts and splints.Screen patients to determine need for medical attention.Make referrals within the clinic and to community agencies, services and providers as necessary to meet home care or other health needs.Perform CPR or ACLS as necessary; have current CPR certification.Consults with supervising physicians per departmental, group, and Medical Board guidelines. Maintains medical records in compliance with Medical Group requirements including but not limited to dictation, written notes, and the use of an EMR.Is compliant with all Medical Group, departmental, and, when appropriate, Hospital policies.
