Communications Coordinator University of Redlands POSITION CODE: 4401 DEPARTMENT: Student Affairs APPOINTMENT: Administrative, Non-Exempt, full-time, 12 months STARTING SALARY: Commensurate with experience INTRODUCTORY PERIOD: Twelve (12) Months DATE AVAILABLE: Immediately POSTING DATE: June 14, 2019 APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until filled DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the University Dean, the Communications Coordinator for Student Affairs (CCSA) at University of Redlands is responsible for the development and execution of a consistent message representative of the mission and purpose of student affairs and the many and varied services it provides. As such, they will meet with departmental leadership to develop, implement and execute multidisciplinary communication campaigns for an internal audience, primarily targeting current students, while also supporting external messaging, particularly to specific student populations like first-generation, student athletes, etc. Communication disciplines will include content creation, graphic design, website development and maintenance, social media presence, writing and editing content, and marketing publicity related to various student affairs events and services. The CCSA will collaborate with department representatives across the division, this includes athletics, to develop messages that enhance understanding and appeal, as well as ensure clear, accurate and consistent messaging. The CCSA will also collaborate with representatives from across campus, including University Communications team members. Duties and Responsibilities: Executes effective communication including, but not limited to, writing, editing, graphic design, digital media, electronic communications, and web content management Create and manage content calendar Ensures consistency and continuity of messaging in various marketing mediums - electronic communication, social media, print, and online Maintains and updates social media accounts related to Student Affairs Writes and distributes Parent and Diversity newsletters Writes and/or edits press releases or external articles for the Student Affairs division Assists the University Dean with writing internal and external communications Collaborate with Student Affairs leadership to identify communication priorities and goals to increase current students' awareness and support of programs, services and activities Communicate with internal teams to synchronize marketing strategies Writes and/or edits for content clarity and voice continuity Manages and provides art direction for photo and/or video shoots Delivers projects on time and within budget Generates regular analytic reports to measure the success and impact of content Works with University Communications to adhere to University branding and style guidelines and collaborates on initiatives, as appropriate Some night and weekend work will be required Performs other duties as assigned Education, Training and Skills: Working knowledge of computer applications for publishing, image handling and web production, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social media and web content management systems Knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, punctuation, and AP Style Ability to be forward thinking in the awareness of emerging communication technology and practices to engage current students Stay current on content trends and best practices Effective management of multiple priorities simultaneously Professional work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree Three years of related experience Submission of an Electronic Portfolio of work Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in a higher education communication setting Knowledge of the organization, including its mission, vision, goals, policies and infrastructure In compliance with The Americans with Disabilities Act, if selected for the interview process and reasonable accommodations are needed; please call 909-748-8040.
